The Gables Waterfront Apartment is housed in a lovingly restored historic building on the Russell foreshore. Built on whalebone foundations by Joseph England, a shoemaker in 1847, its pitsawn kauri walls could tell a hundred stories.
The luxuriously appointed apartment is 2 storied, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There are views of the bay to Waitangi and Paihia. Glorious sunsets, yachting, fishing and boat activity, plunging gannets and the occasional dolphin are just a few reasons to enjoy the historic township of Russell.

Summary: An absolutely beautiful way to spend the last 3 nights of a month long trip in New Zealand. The Gables is such a lovely place to stay, right on the beach, and so quiet and peaceful. The home was well equipped, welcoming and cozy, and falling asleep to the waves on the beach has to be the best way to relax. I would highly recommend the Gables for a relaxing stay, anytime of the year, and hope to return.
